President says new road project reflects Renewed Hope Agenda as Wike credits TSA exit for accelerated infrastructure delivery…..
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the sweeping infrastructure projects reshaping the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) represent a glimpse of his administration’s broader development agenda for Nigeria, pledging that investments in roads and other critical infrastructure will continue across cities, satellite towns and rural communities.
The President made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of Collector Road C01 and a newly completed bridge serving the Body of Benchers, Nile University and Baze University in Abuja’s Institution and Research District.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said the project demonstrates his administration’s commitment to delivering on the promises made to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, governance must be measured by tangible results rather than unfulfilled pledges, stressing that the newly commissioned road stands as evidence of a promise fulfilled.
Tinubu disclosed that work has already been flagged off to extend the corridor toward RR III and adjoining districts, a move expected to improve connectivity within the capital city, ease traffic congestion and strengthen access between educational institutions, residential neighbourhoods and commercial hubs.
He noted that expanding road networks creates an integrated transport system that unlocks economic opportunities while making movement easier for residents.
The President observed that although the Institution and Research District was conceived as Abuja’s knowledge and academic hub under the city’s master plan, years of inadequate infrastructure had limited access to major institutions, including the Body of Benchers, Nile University and Baze University.
Recalling concerns raised by the Body of Benchers during last year’s Nigerian Law School Call to Bar ceremony, Tinubu said the Federal Government acted swiftly by approving the project through emergency procurement.
He said it was unacceptable for legal professionals and students to contend with poor road access and traffic bottlenecks while carrying out academic and professional responsibilities.
With the completion of the project, Tinubu said road users would now enjoy smoother movement, improved safety and easier access to key institutions within the district.

The President also highlighted the economic impact of the project, noting that its construction generated hundreds of direct and indirect jobs while reinforcing the role of infrastructure in attracting investment and stimulating economic growth.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a dedicated public servant whose drive has resulted in the rapid delivery of multiple projects across the FCT.
Tinubu said the ongoing commissioning of infrastructure projects across Abuja reflects an administration focused on action rather than rhetoric.
He also appealed to residents, students, staff of Nile University and Baze University, as well as the Body of Benchers, to safeguard the newly completed infrastructure, stressing that public assets should be protected for future generations.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to nationwide development, the President said infrastructure investment would remain a priority because every Nigerian deserves the benefits of good governance.
According to him, the transformation taking place in Abuja mirrors the broader vision his administration has for the entire country.
Earlier, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for providing the support that has enabled the FCT Administration to embark on an unprecedented number of infrastructure projects.
The minister specifically credited the decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), saying it significantly improved access to funding and accelerated project execution.
Wike added that the newly commissioned road forms part of the administration’s strategy to ensure that no district in the Federal Capital Territory is left behind in ongoing infrastructure development.
He assured residents that the current administration remains committed to extending similar projects to both urban districts and satellite communities across the FCT.
