Rodri Puts Future Talks on Hold Until After World Cup

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has dismissed immediate speculation over a potential move to Real Madrid, saying any decision regarding his future will be made after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Spain international, who will have less than a year remaining on his City contract by the end of the tournament, has recently been linked with the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid presidential hopeful Enrique Riquelme is reported to have earmarked Rodri as a possible signing.

For now, however, the 29-year-old is concentrating on preparations for the World Cup and has joined his national teammates in training camp.

He told a press conference on Monday: “We’re here to talk about the World Cup. Everything that concerns my future, I’ll wait until the end of the World Cup.

“When a player is nearing the end of his contract, it’s normal for names to come up but I am very calm, I know where I stand and if there hadn’t been a World Cup, perhaps things might be different now.”
