President records overwhelming victory in Eti-Osa as party leaders rally support ahead of 2027 elections……
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday secured a resounding victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held at Ward L2 in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, polling 4,996 votes in a dominant showing.
The direct primary election took place at Ireti Nursery and Primary School on Mekwen Street, off Queens Drive, Ikoyi, where party members turned out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.
Tinubu is seeking the APC presidential ticket for the 2027 general election and faced businessman Sterlyn Osifo in the contest organised by the ruling party.
Voting commenced early under tight security, with party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders gathering at the venue to show solidarity with the President.
Several top APC figures monitored the exercise, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, APC Lagos Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and party leader Kola Peregrino.
President Tinubu arrived at the polling centre around 11:35 a.m., shortly after the voter accreditation process had been concluded.
Addressing party members before voting began, APC Lagos State Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi praised supporters for maintaining order and discipline throughout the exercise.
“The rewards of your loyalty to the party will yield proceeds in due course. Thank you for the wonderful support for our President and the APC,” he said.
He also urged members to continue mobilising support for the ruling party ahead of the next general election.
“Today, we are here to re-elect the candidate of your choice. Let Nigerians know that APC is the best party in Nigeria,” Ojelabi added.
At the conclusion of the exercise, the Ward Returning Officer, Martha Adikwu, announced that Tinubu secured 4,996 votes from a total of 5,163 accredited voters, sealing a commanding victory in the ward primary.
The result further reinforces Tinubu’s strong political influence within Lagos, widely regarded as his political base, as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
