Hormuz: Trump Issues Shoot-on-Sight Order Over Mines in Key Gulf Shipping Route

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has directed the country’s Navy to take decisive action against vessels suspected of laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump said he had instructed the military to respond forcefully to any such threat in the key maritime corridor.
According to multiple media reports quoting the post, he ordered the Navy to “shoot and kill” any boats found deploying mines, stressing that there should be no hesitation in carrying out the directive.
U.S. officials say the move is aimed at safeguarding commercial shipping and protecting critical global energy routes that pass through the narrow waterway. However, no formal written directive beyond the reported social media statement has been publicly released.
The development comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, with Western governments warning of growing risks to maritime traffic and the possibility of further escalation.
Analysts have also cautioned that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains highly volatile, given its strategic importance and the volume of international shipping it handles.
