Nigeria Begins Evacuation of Citizens from Iran via Armenia Border

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, willing Nigerians in Iran are being escorted to safety across the Armenia border as the Federal Government steps up measures to protect citizens during the crisis.

In a post on her X handle on Tuesday, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed that officials from the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran are coordinating the movement of citizens who wish to leave, ensuring their safe passage into Armenia.

Dabiri-Erewa assured that no Nigerian in Iran has been affected by the ongoing tensions so far, and embassy staff remain stationed at the border to receive and assist evacuees.

The evacuation, carried out in cooperation with Armenian authorities, is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to protect Nigerians abroad during emergencies and reflects continued monitoring of developments in the Middle East.
