The Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has inspected the ongoing construction work at the Abuja Independent Power Plant Project Phase One in Gwagwalada, Abuja, Wednesday, 18th February, 2026.
Led by the Executive Director of Transmission Service Provider (TSP), Engr. Dr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye, the visit to the plant site was aimed at assessing the project’s progress.
It also afforded the team the opportunity to obtain first-hand information on its generating capacity, commissioning timeline, and evacuation requirements for integration into the national grid.
The engagement provided an opportunity for technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor, reinforcing coordination ahead of the December 2026 commissioning.
The power plant being constructed by NNPC, which will be powered by gas from the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, which is expected to deliver 350MW under Phase One of the project.
