Kemity Breaks Silence on ‘Casting Couch’ Rumours, Says Success Came Through Hard Work

Nollywood actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, widely known as Kemity, has publicly refuted allegations that she advanced her career through sexual favours.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the actress addressed circulating rumours, insisting that her rise in the film industry is rooted in persistence, discipline and legitimate effort.

Kemity stated unequivocally that she has never exchanged sex for movie roles or professional opportunities. She cautioned the public against believing narratives fueled by social media speculation.

Reflecting on her early years, the actress revealed that she financed her acting ambitions independently. She said she owned two wine shops and also worked as a hotel receptionist while pursuing her passion for film.

According to her, the financial realities of film production at the time required actors to cater for personal expenses, including accommodation. To manage costs, she transitioned into makeup artistry and became part of production crews before eventually returning fully to acting.

Kemity maintained that her career growth followed a gradual path, describing it as a step-by-step process rather than one built on shortcuts.

The actress, a mother of two daughters, said her upbringing and values would not permit her to compromise her integrity. She credited her achievements to hard work and faith, stressing that her reputation remains intact.

She also recalled supporting movie productions in the past by supplying goods from her business, further underscoring her involvement in the industry beyond acting roles.

Addressing younger actresses, Kemity advised against seeking quick fixes or yielding to pressure in exchange for career advancement. She emphasised that talent, consistency and commitment are sufficient to succeed in Nollywood.
