Cosmas Maduka Fires Back at Cubana Chief Priest, Reflects on Rise From ‘Ground Zero’

Prominent industrialist Cosmas Maduka has reacted to remarks by nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, addressing comparisons made between him and some of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen.

In a video that has since gained traction online, Maduka recounted his journey from a modest background to becoming a key figure in Nigeria’s corporate landscape.

He said he rose from having only a third-grade education to serving on the boards of two publicly quoted banks in Nigeria, where he also chairs a credit committee. The businessman further disclosed that he conducts business across five continents and has received invitations from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Vienna.

Maduka stated that he has no intention of placing himself in the same bracket as billionaires such as Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote. According to him, their backgrounds and opportunities differ significantly from his own.

He argued that individuals who had access to higher education and early advantages should not be used as benchmarks for measuring his achievements, noting that his path began “from ground zero.”

The businessman also revealed that in 2011, he set a personal target to mentor 1,000 billionaires in Nigeria. He claimed that 67 individuals he has mentored have since attained billionaire status.

Maduka’s remarks come amid ongoing public exchanges involving Cubana Chief Priest, adding a new dimension to conversations around wealth, background and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
