Nkechi Blessing Reveals Disturbing Script Offer She Rejected Early in Nollywood Career

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has spoken candidly about one of the most difficult moments she faced when starting out in the film industry.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the actress said her early days in Nollywood were marked by unusual and inappropriate script offers that tested her values.
According to Blessing, one of the first roles she was offered required her to perform a scene involving a dog—an idea she said she immediately rejected because it could have damaged her reputation and defined her career negatively from the onset. She explained that accepting such a script as a newcomer would have created a lasting stigma, noting that “people rarely forget how an actor begins.”
Blessing added that although she walked away from the role, several other aspiring actresses accepted it. She remarked that none of those who embraced the controversial script appear to have built notable careers in the industry today.
After leaving the set, she said she encountered veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru, who expressed interest in working with her. That meeting eventually led to her first appearance in the film Through The Fire, produced by Emem Isong, an opportunity she credits with setting her on a more respectable and sustainable path in Nollywood.
