The Nigerian celebrity chef cooked 8,780 kg of jollof in Lagos, drawing massive crowds and global recognition.

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has achieved another historic feat as Guinness World Records officially confirmed her for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

In a statement on its official X page, Guinness World Records announced:

“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

The record-breaking moment took place on September 12, 2025, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, during the Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci.

The event was a culinary spectacle that attracted thousands of guests and trended widely on social media, cementing jollof rice’s place as a cultural icon.

Hilda Baci, who rose to global prominence in 2023 after setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has now further solidified her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.

The Lagos festival was star-studded, with notable appearances from Funke Akindele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, and Pastor Idowu. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, also joined dignitaries and fans to support Baci’s latest achievement.

This milestone not only highlights Baci’s culinary brilliance but also places Nigerian cuisine, especially jollof rice, firmly in the global spotlight.
