Super Eagles Name 31-Man Squad for Crucial World Cup Qualifiers vs Rwanda and South Africa

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a 31-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for next month.

Nigeria will play host to Rwanda in the first of the two fixtures, followed by an away clash against South Africa in Bloemfontein on September 9.

As expected, Chelle has included several familiar faces in the squad, with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Stanley Nwabali, Calvin Bassey, and William Troost-Ekong all making the list.

There’s a debut call-up for Sevilla striker Jerome Adams, while Terem Moffi makes his return to the national team setup after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.

These two matches are considered pivotal in determining Nigeria’s qualification hopes for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with seven points, trailing South Africa, Rwanda, and Benin Republic.
