Razak Omotoyossi, a footballer of Nigerian origin who gained prominence representing Benin on the international stage, has died at the age of 39.
Although born in Nigeria, Omotoyossi chose to wear the colors of Benin during his professional career, ultimately becoming one of the country’s most revered football personalities.
News of his passing was made public on Tuesday through an official announcement by Beninese authorities.
In response to the tragic development, Swedish football club Helsingborgs IF, where Omotoyossi once played, posted the following message on X: “Helsingborgs IF is in mourning.
“We have been informed that our former player Razak Omotoyossi has passed away at the age of 39.
“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
