Garki LGA Commences Voting in By-Elections to Fill Vacant Federal Constituency Seat

Voting began on Saturday morning in Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State as constituents turned out to elect a new representative for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency seat at the House of Representatives, following the death of the former occupant.

Accreditation of voters commenced promptly at 8:30 a.m., with polling units opening an hour later at 9:30 a.m. Residents came out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility in the crucial by-election.

The exercise is part of nationwide by-elections taking place simultaneously across 13 states to fill 16 vacant legislative seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the affected states include Jigawa, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Adamawa, Anambra, Kaduna, Kano, Taraba, Kogi, Niger, Enugu, and Zamfara.

INEC has assured voters of a free, fair, and transparent process, while security agencies have been deployed to ensure peaceful conduct of the polls.
