The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has directed 3,598 civil servants who missed the 2021 staff verification exercise to undergo a mandatory re-verification between August 18 and August 28, 2025. The commission has warned that failure to participate will be considered proof of holding fake appointment letters, potentially leading to disciplinary action.
The exercise will take place across multiple ministries and government agencies, including Agriculture, Defence, Education, Justice, Works, Information, Science and Technology, Aviation, Finance, Interior, and the State House.
Affected officers have been instructed to verify their names on the FCSC’s official website, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) portal, and ministry notice boards. Participants must present original and photocopies of key documents such as appointment and promotion letters, gazetted appointment confirmations, staff change letters, and the July 2025 IPPIS payslip.
A document dated August 4, obtained by our correspondent, stated:
“The Federal Civil Service Commission has finalised arrangements for re-verification of officers recruited between 2013 and 2020 who did not appear for the 2021 exercise. Those affected should check their names on the commission’s website (www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng), the OHCSF website (www.ohcsf.gov.ng), and their ministry notice boards.”
The commission emphasized strict adherence to assigned schedules and documentation requirements, noting that no extensions will be granted. Officers on secondment, transferred, or on study leave are also required to confirm their participation. The document further warned that non-compliance will be treated as evidence of falsified appointment credentials.
Among the ministries with the highest numbers of officers required to re-verify are Information (592), Education (506), and Labour (440). Other ministries affected include Works (134), Industry and Trade (196), Health (158), Environment (237), Interior (24), Defence (28), and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (36), among others.
