Tinubu Appoints Olumode Adeyemi as New Controller-General of Federal Fire Service

Appointment takes effect August 14 as outgoing CG Olola bows out after years of service

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), with effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jibril (rtd), who confirmed that the appointment aligns with the upcoming retirement of the current CG, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola.

Olola, who will retire on August 11 upon reaching the mandatory age of 60, has been acknowledged for his years of dedicated service and the key reforms he introduced to modernize fire safety in Nigeria.

Adeyemi, currently a Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the FFS Headquarters, brings over three decades of experience in fire service administration. He began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the federal level, where he steadily rose through the ranks.

According to the CDCFIB, Adeyemi has successfully completed all required in-service trainings and has represented Nigeria at professional courses both locally and abroad. His credentials include fellowships and memberships in multiple professional bodies, such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management.

In its statement, the Board expressed confidence in Adeyemi’s capacity to lead the Service into a new phase of operational excellence, while also praising the outgoing CG for his contributions to national safety and emergency response frameworks.
