The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ushered in a new era of leadership, with prominent Nigerian political figures, including former Senate President David Mark and ex-Minister Rauf Aregbesola, taking on key roles in the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Others joining the new NEC include former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Minister of Youth and Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi; and retired General Tunde Ogbeha.
The new leadership was officially sworn in during a ceremony held Monday night at Chelsea Hotel in Abuja, following the conclusion of the party’s NEC meeting. The event marked the formal handover of responsibilities from the Ralph Nwosu-led executive team to the incoming leadership.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were in attendance to oversee the process, indicating the party’s compliance with electoral procedures and internal governance standards.
With the swearing-in complete, the newly constituted executive committee begins its tenure with immediate effect. Party insiders describe the transition as a strategic move to reinvigorate the ADC’s national influence and reposition it within a growing opposition coalition ahead of Nigeria’s next election cycle.
The involvement of political heavyweights is expected to boost the party’s profile and provide direction as it seeks broader relevance on the national stage.
