Home-Based Super Eagles Play Goalless Draw Against Zanzibar in CHAN Warm-Up

The home-based Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Zanzibar in a pre-2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) warm-up match on Monday.

Despite controlling much of the game and dominating possession, Eric Chelle’s men were unable to find the breakthrough against the resilient hosts. Standout performances came from Taiwo Abdularafiu, Anthony Ijoma, and Leonard Ngenege, who impressed with their energy and creativity throughout the match.

Nigeria will square off once again with Zanzibar in a second friendly encounter scheduled for Thursday. These fixtures form part of the team’s final preparations ahead of CHAN 2024.

Following Thursday’s match, the squad is expected to relocate to their official tournament base. The CHAN 2024 finals, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, are set to kick off this weekend.
