Barely days after its underwhelming unveiling, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has, unsurprisingly, begun following the familiar path of deceit and propaganda, much like its opposition counterparts the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
In a statement released on Monday, July 7, 2025, the ADC alleged an imaginary plot by President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilise its party. Claiming to have “credible intelligence,” the ADC accused federal officials of summoning its North East and North West state chairmen to a secret meeting aimed at coercion and intimidation.
However, the statement failed to provide a shred of evidence only vague and unsubstantiated claims that highlight the party’s true intent: to manipulate public sentiment and distract from its internal failures.
If such a meeting indeed took place, why hasn’t the ADC disclosed the names of those involved or offered any verifiable details? Instead, it clings to nebulous intelligence in a clear attempt to mislead the public. In truth, no such meeting occurred except perhaps in the imaginations of those determined to mask their party’s unraveling.
There is absolutely no reason for President Tinubu or the APC to engage in any plot against a party already mired in internal conflict. The ADC’s troubles are self-inflicted, stemming from a chaotic takeover by opportunists who have sidelined its foundational leadership. The party’s current crisis is the inevitable outcome of its internal contradictions and power struggles.
This statement by the ADC is nothing more than a feeble attempt to pre-emptively rationalise its looming collapse. Like Humpty Dumpty, the party appears beyond repair. Its leadership has demonstrated neither the capacity to resolve internal disputes nor the competence to offer any meaningful alternative to Nigerians.
What can Nigerians truly expect from a coalition made up of recycled politicians figures synonymous with misrule, corruption, and underdevelopment now regrouped under the ADC umbrella? These are the same actors who failed in their previous roles and are now bound only by a shared desperation for presidential power.
The ADC offers no vision, no policy alternatives only loud rhetoric built on resentment and ambition. Their strategy begins and ends with attacking President Tinubu and the APC, without acknowledging the administration’s record of bold economic reforms and structural transformation.
From Peter Obi’s unfulfilled promise to serve a single term and his hypocrisy in campaigning lavishly with private jets, to the underwhelming legacies of former officials like El-Rufai, Aregbesola, and Sirika now glaringly outshone by their successors none of the ADC coalition members possess the clarity, competence, or credibility required to lead Nigeria forward.
While the opposition continues to stumble through confusion and contradictions, President Tinubu and the APC remain focused, delivering on their mandate and laying the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.
