Odumodublvck Declares: ‘No Nigerian Hip-Hop Song Has Made a Bigger Impact Than Mine’

Controversial Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has fired back at critics who question his rap style, insisting their disapproval stems from intimidation rather than genuine critique.

Speaking during an interview on The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, the “Declan Rice” hitmaker confidently declared that his 2023 breakout single is the most culturally significant Nigerian hip-hop song to date.

“No Nigerian hip-hop record has had the kind of global impact ‘Declan Rice’ has,” he said. “It’s not just a song—it’s a moment. Arsenal used it to unveil Declan Rice after his record-breaking transfer from West Ham. That song is now the biggest digital asset on Arsenal’s social media. Go and verify.”

Odumodublvck also addressed the criticism directed at up-and-coming artists who try to emulate his sound. “When young rappers attempt to follow my style, they’re often discouraged because of negative feedback. But I’ve dropped heavy verses—‘Good Devil Wells White’ with Larry G is proof. English, vernacular, patois—we’ve done it all. Yet people still try to discredit it because they feel threatened.”

Challenging doubters to name a more culturally resonant Nigerian rap line, he added, “What rap bar in the last 20 years has made more noise than my line in ‘Cast’? Bring the metrics—streams, influence, global reach. The numbers don’t lie.”

In a fiery conclusion, he called out detractors who claim he’s “not a rapper”: “That’s a lie, and it’s ungrateful. May God judge them accordingly.”
