World Record Holder Tobi Amusan Shines with Season-Best at 2025 Paris Diamond League

World record holder Tobi Amusan delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 Paris Diamond League, clocking a season-best 12.24 seconds to secure a thrilling second place in the women’s 100m hurdles.

This time stands as her second-fastest ever, trailing only her 2022 world record of 12.12 seconds. Amusan closed fiercely in the final meters, chasing down American hurdler Grace Stark, who powered out of the blocks and held on to win with a personal best and meeting record of 12.21 seconds—marking her as the fifth-fastest woman in history over the event.

Amusan’s result in Paris highlights a remarkable resurgence in form throughout the 2025 season. After a cautious start with two fourth-place finishes in Xiamen (12.74s) and Shaoxing (12.66s), she bounced back emphatically, capturing her first Diamond League victory of the year in Rabat last month with a meet record and season-best 12.45 seconds.

The Paris meet marked Amusan’s fourth Diamond League appearance this season, where she faced a world-class field, including world medallist Keni Harrison, rising Jamaican star Ackera Nugent, Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, Dutch champion Nadine Visser, Bahamian Devynne Charlton, and the current Diamond League leader Grace Stark.

Despite the high-caliber competition, Amusan’s consistent improvement and vast experience kept her in strong contention as the race to qualify for the Diamond League finals in Zurich intensifies.

Currently sitting fourth in the Diamond League standings with 10 points, she trails behind Stark (23), Danielle Williams (15), and Marione Fourie (12).

With the World Championships looming, Amusan appears to be peaking at the perfect moment—ready to challenge for gold and possibly break more records. The quest for glory and history is well underway.
