Kiddwaya Faces Backlash for Soliciting Donations for Benue Massacre Victims

Kiddwaya, a popular Big Brother Naija star and billionaire heir, is facing widespread criticism after launching a public donation drive for victims of the recent massacre in Benue State.

On Wednesday, Kiddwaya announced through his NGO, the Kiddwaya Foundation, an initiative to raise funds to support those affected by the deadly attack. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), he urged Nigerians to contribute amounts ranging from ₦500 to ₦500,000, stating:
“At the Kiddwaya Foundation, we’re mobilizing resources to provide food, shelter, and essential support to those affected. But we can’t do it alone—we need your help.”

However, the plea for public donations was met with swift backlash. Many questioned why Kiddwaya, known for his lavish lifestyle and frequent displays of wealth on social media, would ask average Nigerians for money instead of funding the relief effort himself.

In response to the criticism, Kiddwaya deleted the original post from his social media page.

The fundraising effort followed a horrific attack in the Yelewata community of Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly burned alive during a raid by suspected Fulani herdsmen last Friday night into Saturday morning.
