Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with laying the groundwork for what has become Africa’s largest industrial complex the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals hub in Lagos.
Speaking on Thursday during the President’s official visit to the site, Dangote described the multi-billion-dollar facility as a direct outcome of Tinubu’s foresight and leadership, dating back to his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.
“It is a great honour to welcome Your Excellency to the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex, and to commission the concrete road and other associated infrastructure which you graciously approved,” Dangote said.
“I must stress that this refinery is, in many ways, your brainchild. The Lekki Free Trade Zone, where this massive industrial site stands, was created under your leadership as governor. Today, we are witnessing the realisation of that vision,” he added.
Praising Tinubu as a visionary leader, Africa’s richest man assured the President that the refinery is only the beginning of much more to come.
“What you’ve seen today is just the starting point. There is so much more on the way,” he said.
Dangote also applauded some of the Tinubu administration’s recent policy moves, especially the Naira-for-Crude Policy, which he said reflects a strong commitment to national economic recovery and sovereignty.
He further lauded the Nigeria First Policy, aimed at reducing dependence on imported goods and services by encouraging local production and prioritizing Nigerian talent and resources.
“These are not just policies on paper they are steps toward truly reclaiming our economic independence,” Dangote stated.
