2027: Sowore Slams Opposition Talks, Calls Coalitions Hollow and Visionless

Former AAC presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore has criticized ongoing opposition coalition efforts ahead of the 2027 elections, calling them ideologically bankrupt and politically empty.

Speaking on Channels TV, he warned that such alliances will only strengthen President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“These coalitions are distractions,” Sowore said, arguing that they lack conviction, integrity, and a people-centered vision. He dismissed the opposition’s unity talks as “lonely” and disconnected from grassroots needs.

While political figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai explore merger possibilities, internal divisions persist. Sowore, however, urged Nigerians to focus on building a true movement of the oppressed, not elite-driven power blocs.

“We don’t have democracy yet—only a transition to civil rule,” he declared, insisting that real change must come from the people, not recycled elites.
