Governor Otti Pledges Divine Guidance Before 2027 Re-election Decision

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has revealed that he will seek divine guidance before making a decision on whether to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Sam Ihesiulor Stadium, Okpuala Ngwa, organized by the Oha Isiala Ngwa People of Isiala Ngwa North and South local government areas, Otti expressed gratitude for the public endorsement he received while emphasizing that the final decision lies with God.

“Just as 2023 was in the hands of God, 2027 will also be in His hands,” Governor Otti said, according to a statement from his spokesman, Njoku Ukoha. “I appreciate this endorsement, which I see as recognition of what we have achieved so far. But before making any decision, I will go back and consult with God. When the time comes, my response will be made public because I know my people are waiting.”

The governor also highlighted his administration’s strategic focus on Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, as a key driver for economic growth across the region.

“Our emphasis on Aba is deliberate because we understand its potential to generate revenue, which will fuel development in other parts of the state,” Otti said. “Aba is not only vital to Abia but also a major commercial centre for the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones.”

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to inclusive development, the governor announced that the Mgboko–Ntigha road project is expected to be completed by December.

He also addressed concerns regarding the location of the Abia Airport in Nsulu, stressing that the decision was based purely on technical considerations rather than political influence.

“All landowners affected by the airport project have been fully compensated,” he assured. “If anyone has not been paid, it is likely due to incorrect account details or disputes over land ownership.”

Describing the airport as more than just an aviation facility, Otti outlined ambitious plans for it to become a comprehensive development hub. “We are building an airport city,” he said. “It will feature a three- or four-star hotel, a Nigeria Air Force base, markets, and shopping plazas, all designed to provide long-term economic benefits for our people.”

Governor Otti’s remarks come amid growing anticipation over his political future, with many watching closely for his next move in Abia’s evolving political landscape.
