President Tinubu Inducts Two Attack Helicopters to Bolster Nigeria’s Security Efforts

In a significant boost to Nigeria’s fight against insecurity, President Bola Tinubu has officially inducted two new attack helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fleet. The ceremony coincided with the 61st anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force and was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The newly inducted helicopters, NAF544 and NAF545, are expected to enhance the Air Force’s operational capabilities in tackling the nation’s growing security challenges.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, disclosed ambitious plans for the Air Force’s expansion. He revealed that by 2027, the Nigerian Air Force will acquire an additional 49 aircraft to further strengthen its aerial power.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Air Force has already integrated nine new aircraft, including four Mi-35 attack helicopters, three King Air 360 aircraft, and the two newly inducted Agusta 109 Trekker helicopters.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the commitment of President Tinubu’s administration to national security, stating:

“In line with Mr. President’s firm dedication to Nigeria’s safety, the Nigerian Air Force is set to receive 49 more aircraft over the next two years. This fleet will include 10 additional Agusta 109 Trekker helicopters, 12 A-1 Zulu attack helicopters, 20 Mi-346 attack and ground-attack aircraft, and three CASA 295 million airlift aircraft.”

The induction marks a critical milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to enhance military readiness and respond effectively to security threats across the country.
