Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reaffirmed his commitment to deepening collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to advance the health, education, and overall well-being of children and youth in the state.
The Governor expressed this commitment during a meeting with UNICEF’s Country Representative in Nigeria, Cristian Munduate, held on Tuesday at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.
Commending UNICEF for its enduring contributions to child development across Nigeria, Governor Soludo stated, “UNICEF holds a special place in my heart. Your organization has achieved remarkable progress in improving children’s health and education nationwide, and we are proud to be your partners in this journey.”
He stressed the critical importance of investing in the younger generation, noting that children and youth are central to achieving a sustainable and inclusive future. Reiterating the core values of his political party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo cited its guiding principle: “Leave No One Behind.”
“Anambra is a committed and capable partner,” he said. “We are ready to strengthen cooperation in every area of social protection.”
Governor Soludo also highlighted Anambra’s recent recognition by UNICEF as both a regional and national leader in healthcare delivery. He emphasized his administration’s dedication to providing free antenatal care, safe delivery services including Caesarean sections and accessible, inclusive education, all of which have yielded measurable benefits for residents.
In response, Cristian Munduate praised the Governor’s leadership and investment in critical social sectors. “Health and nutrition should not be seen as costs they are investments,” she said, reaffirming UNICEF’s commitment to supporting Anambra State through its comprehensive programs that offer essential supplies, technical assistance, and service delivery.
The meeting also covered UNICEF’s broader engagement strategy in Nigeria, which combines direct support with policy advocacy and social protection initiatives. Both parties underscored their shared commitment to improving outcomes for children and youth, setting the stage for stronger and more impactful collaborations in health, education, and social welfare.
