Rasheedat Ajibade Set to Leave Atlético Madrid, Eyes NWSL Move

Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade is poised to depart Atlético Madrid Femení at the end of the current season, with the Nigeria international unlikely to renew her contract.

Ajibade, 25, has been a key figure for the Spanish side since joining four years ago, scoring 40 goals in 136 appearances across all competitions. In the ongoing campaign, she has added six goals and three assists in 19 matches, helping Atlético Madrid maintain third place in La Liga Femenina after 27 rounds.

According to Soccerdonna, the club is already preparing for her departure by exploring replacement options ahead of the summer transfer window.

The forward has been linked with a potential move to the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), which has recently seen a wave of international talent arrive. A reunion with fellow Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala at Bay FC is a possibility, although no specific club has yet been confirmed.

Ajibade, who has earned 29 caps and scored five goals for Nigeria, is expected to play a prominent role at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where the Super Falcons will aim to reclaim continental supremacy.
