Residents in parts of Lagos State are set to experience daily blackouts for 25 consecutive days, according to a public notice issued by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Friday.
The power utility said the outage will begin on Monday, July 28, and last until Thursday, August 21, 2025, occurring daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
EKEDC explained that the planned interruption is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out critical maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line a major supply route that feeds power into the Eko network.
“The outage will affect several parts of Lagos and other areas within our network,” the notice read. “During this period, customers should expect reduced electricity supply and load shedding across the EKEDC service area.”
The company urged residents to plan accordingly and assured that efforts are in place to minimize the impact where possible. However, no specific list of affected neighborhoods was provided at the time of the announcement.
The maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts by TCN to improve grid reliability and long-term supply stability, though short-term disruptions are expected.
