As political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties pose no serious threat to the ruling party.
The declaration was made by the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, after an inspection visit to the ICT/Data Centre at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday. The visit, conducted under the auspices of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), was part of preparations for the party’s forthcoming electronic membership registration exercise.
Speaking alongside Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, Uzodinma, who also serves as Imo State Governor, emphasized the APC’s political dominance. “There are only two political parties in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress and the others”, he stated.
When asked about the ADC’s recent comment describing continued APC leadership after 2027 as “disastrous,” Uzodinma replied, “You called it a claim. It is their claim, not ours.” He further affirmed the APC’s readiness for digital transformation, stating: “We came to monitor and evaluate the extent of the e-registration exercise. We are highly impressed with what we saw and confident that full-scale registration will commence shortly.”
Uzodinma also expressed strong support for the newly appointed APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, praising his leadership qualities. “Look at him, handsome, tall, full of energy and intelligence. Our party is excited and happy with his emergence. This is the kind of leadership we need”.
Yilwatda, who conducted the governors’ tour of the ICT facility, echoed similar confidence in the party’s direction. “The APC is a leading party by far compared to any other in Nigeria,” he said. “We are deepening technology and maintaining dominance across all political and operational dimensions.”
He emphasized the importance of data in modern politics, stating: “With technology, we can accurately track our membership base, predict voter support, and strengthen the party’s grassroots presence across states. This will help us drive research, improve internal relationships, and better serve our members at all levels”.
Governor Ododo also used the occasion to reaffirm the APC Governors’ loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, the national chairman, and the party leadership. He pledged continued support to ensure the APC remains successful in upcoming electoral contests.
