A high-profile group of opposition politicians, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Senate President David Mark, have chosen the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as their vehicle to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 elections.
The group, organized under the Nigeria National Coalition Group, has formally requested INEC’s approval for ADA’s registration as a political party
The application, signed by ADA’s Protem National Chairman Akin Ricketts and Secretary Abdullahi Elayo, includes the party’s name, logo, flag, slogan “Justice for All,” manifesto, constitution, and other foundational documents.
This approach follows earlier deliberations over joining existing parties like ADC and SDP, ultimately leading to the formation of a new platform to ensure equal footing for all stakeholders .
ADA’s strategy reflects deep concerns about internal conflicts and legal disputes within established parties. It signifies a fresh opposition alignment aimed at presenting a united front against the APC.
Whether ADA can maintain cohesion and deliver grassroots momentum ahead of 2027 remains a test of its political viability.
