Gyökeres officially signed his contract as a new Arsenal player on Saturday.

The deal was finalized after he successfully completed his medical examinations at the Emirates Stadium.

Gyökeres will don the number 14 jersey for the north London club, joining Arsenal from Sporting CP.

In an interview with the club’s official website on Thursday, he explained, “There were several clubs involved, but I chose Arsenal because it is the best club for me.”

He added, “The transfer was not straightforward. Some individuals frequently spoke to the media, believing they were safeguarding the club’s interests.”

Many fans and analysts feel that Arsenal’s shortage of a natural striker under Mikel Arteta cost them the Premier League title last season, as they finished second behind Liverpool.

The club’s summer transfer spending is projected to exceed £200 million, yet manager Mikel Arteta appears determined to further strengthen his squad.

The Gunners have already finalized the acquisitions of Christian Nørgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

In addition, Arsenal are expected to announce the arrivals of Madueke, Mosquera, and Gyökeres within the week.

However, The Athletic reports that Arsenal remain in pursuit of an additional game-changing player, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze both under consideration.

To facilitate such a move, the club will likely need to offload some current players from the Emirates Stadium roster to generate the necessary funds.
