Former Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has died at the age of 95.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa broke the news of the authoritarian leader’s death in a post on his official presidential Twitter account on Friday.

Mugabe died in Singapore, where he has been receiving medical treatment in recent years.
He was the first post-independence leader of Zimbabwe, and took power in 1980 after the white minority rule ended.
In 2017, amid concerns that he was grooming his wife Grace as his successor, the former president was ousted in a military coup after 37 years in power.
