Senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Hassan Gusau has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, read Gusau’s letter informing his colleagues of his action during plenary on Tuesday.
In the letter, Gusau attributed his decision to the alleged factionalisation and infighting in the Zamfara State chapter of the PDP.
He, however, failed to name the new party he’ll be joining. Gasua said he will make his decision known on the party he hopes to join soon.
Meanwhile, Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle, is expected to formally join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday.
Ahead of his defection, the PDP through its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, warned the governor against ther decision, saying his seat will be declared vacant if he joins the APC.
