A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has recalled his role in the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, maintaining that the Katsina-born leader would have lost the election if not for his efforts.
Tinubu spoke on Thursday at a meeting with APC delegates in Ogun state.
Describing the election as a “battle”, Tinubu also spoke on how he “surrendered” the vice-presidential ticket to Yemi Osinbajo, when concerns were raised over a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the APC.
The former governor of Lagos State said since Buhari became President, he has not benefited anything from him.
According to him, he had wanted to be the country’s president since his days in the Action Congress (ACN), noting his role in the political careers of several Nigerian leaders including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
