Why we have refused to release Sowere – DSS

The Department of State Services has been explaining why it has refused to release Omoyele Sowore, Convener of #revolutionnow movement.

Briefing journalist in Abuja, spokesman of the service, Nnochirionye Afunanya said the service can not let  Sowore out without its administrative procedure.

He admitted that though the court order was received by the service nobody has come to undergo the said administrative procedure for him to be released.

Afunanya who gave an example of Nnamdi Kanu said the IPOB leader was released without the procedure and is now at large and no one can be held responsible.

The spokesman also maintained that the Service is simply following administrative procedures by insisting that Sowore’s sureties come forward for proper documentation.

Sowore has been in DSS detention since August 4th 2019, when he was arrested.

He was later arraigned on charges bordering on terrorism and has remained in detention despite two court orders for him to be released on bail, but the directives have been ignored by the DSS.
