The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has said the circulating stories about the federal government’s resolve to slash salaries of civil servants is untrue.
Ngige made the clarification at the resumed meeting of the Presidential committee on salaries and the health sector professional associations.
The meeting deliberated on an acceptable hazard allowance for health workers in government establishments.
The Minister said his counterpart in Finance was quoted wrongly saying all the government intends to do is to fish out ghost and redundant workers.
The minister’s clarification comes a week after the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed stated that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the salaries committee to review payroll and also review the number of agencies.
