The Lagos state police command says it has arrested an inspector attached to a police station in Ago, for allegedly extorting N40,000 from a motorist.
The culprit identified as Taloju Martin was caught on video collecting the said sum after impounding the car of the motorist.
He was arrested after the video went viral on social media on Saturday.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Bala Elkana, spokesman of the Lagos police command, said Martin has been arrested and the money handed over to the owner.
Elkana adds that he will face an orderly room trial for his actions and the public will be duly informed on the outcome of the trial.
“After analysing the video, the culprit was identified and arrested. He is Inspector Taloju Martin attached to Ago Police Station as Station Officer (SO),” the police spokesman said.
“The complainant has also been identified. The money extorted is recovered and handed over to him by the commissioner of police.
Lagos police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, has now ordered a probe of the activities of the Ago station.
“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Criminal Investigation to carry out an in-depth investigation into the activities of Ago Police Station as a whole.
