The Federal Government has agreed to pay doctors June COVID-19 allowance.
This follows a conciliation meeting between the Minister of Labour and employment, Chris Ngige and the Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Abuja.
Ministry of Health, Finance, Budget and National Planning and National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission were also represented at the meeting.
At the Wednesday meeting, an approved sum of N8.9bn was decided upon to pay all health workers in the country.
Following the agreement, Ngige admonished the doctors to call off the strike within the next 24hours.
On his part, NARD National President, Sokomba Aliyu, assured the minister that he will consult with other members of the NARD on the way forward.
The doctors had on Monday embarked on an indefinite strike action to protest unpaid COVID-19 allowance, shortage of personal protective equipment and other issues.
