There are reports that some gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted over 300 schoolgirls at Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in the Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The state commissioner for information, Suleiman Tunau Anka who confirmed the news to journalists says the gunmen stormed the school around 1 a.m on Friday morning to abduct the students but did not confirm how many students were kidnapped.
According to reports, the unknown gunmen arrived in Hilux vehicles and motorcycles and forcefully evacuated the students.
However, all attempts to reach police authorities in the state have proved abortive.
The latest attack on the Zamfara school occurs about two weeks after over 20 students were abducted by armed bandits from a school in Niger State. The students in Niger are yet to be released.
