UNILAG suspends lecturer indicted in sex for grades report

The University of Lagos has suspended Boniface Igbeneghu, a lecturer caught in the sex for grade scandal.

Igbenegbu was exposed in a video by BBC Africa where an undercover journalist, Kiki Mordi, disguised as a 17-year-old admission seeker.

Vice-chancellor of the institution, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, on Monday confirmed that Igbeneghu has been indefinitely suspended.

He adds that, ”A panel will be set up to investigate the issue.”

Igbeneghu, is a former sub-dean of Faculty of Art and head pastor of local Foursquare Gospel Church had invited the ‘admission seeker’ to his office for ‘tutorials where  he sexually harassed and threatened her.

The video has been widely condemned by most Nigerians and has also encouraged other students who  have gone such experience to speak up.

#Greadeforsex has been trending on Twitter, with many students calling out lecturers known for the act.
