Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, has emerged winner of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Ebonyi South Senatorial district.
Umahi scored 250 votes to emerge victorious at the fresh election for the senatorial zone held on Sunday, beating his closest rival, Augustine Chukwu Umahi who got 10 votes.
The election, which took place at the Afikpo North Local Government Headquarters, witnessed the heavy presence of Security operatives, APC supporters, Journalists, among others.
Declaring the results, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel for APC Ebonyi South Senatorial district election, Emmanuel Adebayo affirmed that Umahi having scored the highest number of votes is declared the winner of the election.
Kayode disclosed that the election expected to be contested by five cleared aspirants were later contested by four aspirants as Ann Nwanyibuife Agom-Eze boycotted the election.
Others who participated in the rerun were Austin Chukwu Umahi, David Umahi, Ibiam Margaret Ezenwanyi and Chiko Elizabeth Nwakaego.
Nwanyibuife Ago-Eze scored no vote; Miriam Ezenwanyi polled three votes, while Chukwu Nwakaego got five votes.
