UK government: New prime minister Rishi Sunak vows to fix Liz Truss’ ‘mistakes’

New British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has vowed to fix the errors made by his predecessor, Liz Truss while warning of “difficult” decisions ahead.

Speaking on the steps of Downing Street, on Tuesday, after being appointed Premier by King Charles III, Sunak admitted “mistakes were made” by Truss and said he had been appointed “in part, to fix them.”

Sunak takes over at an intensely challenging time for the U.K. economy, with surging energy costs, mortgage rates and inflation – triggering a cost-of-living crisis for millions of households and businesses.
