Trial of Senator Elisha Abbo resumes in Abuja Magistrate court


Lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial district, ELisha Abbo has appeared before the Zuba Magistrate Court to answer to assault charged brought against him by the Nigeria Police Force.

Abbo is making his second appearance before the court, after he was arraigned two weeks ago and granted N5 million bail.

At the resumed hearing of the trial, Abbo was called to the witness box, where he was asked some questions.

Prosecution Counsel James Idachaba filed an application that the prosecution will not be able to continue because all the necessary papers have not been served the defendant in line with section 350 of the criminal code.

The section provides that the prosecution must provide all materials and records it intends to rely on to the defendant.

Defence counsel, Adegbite Adeniyi did not object to the application stressing that it is their right to be avail the materials.
