Tottenham and England midfielder, Dele Alli, was robbed at knifepoint after burglars broke into his home in the early hours of Wednesday morning, stealing jewellery worth thousands of pounds.
The 24-year-old was at his North London residence where he is spending lockdown with his brother and their respective partners when two men armed with knives broke into the house just after midnight.
Alli was threatened and punched during the incident and suffered minor facial injuries in the scuffle.
A Metropolitan Police statement said no arrests have been made and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
Alli and the other victims were said to be shaken by the incident.
“Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we’re all okay now. Appreciate the support,” he posted on Twitter on Wednesday night.
Alli is expected to resume group training with his Spurs teammates on Monday, as the Premier League aims to resume competitive action on June 12.
