Nigeria Olympic Committee has revealed that athletes that have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics will have nothing to worry about as their slots are intact and will represent the country when the major event eventually takes place.
This NOC said this through their media officer, Femi Adetula.
The Olympics which was initially scheduled for July 24 to August 9, 2020 with the Paralympics to follow on August 25 to September 6, 2020 have been postponed due to the widespread of coronavirus.
Adetula said, “Interestingly, IOC has informed us that all the athletes that have qualified for the Olympics, no matter their age will keep their slot for the event.”
“What is going on was not their making because they qualified when they were within the age grade but because of the coronavirus this is why we are having another 16 months delay and wait till next year.
“IOC said that every athlete that has qualified should be allowed to participate, so I can tell you that they are going to represent the country in Japan.”
