Media personality Chude Jideonwo has spoken publicly about his experience living with Tourette Syndrome, describing a private health journey that began after his diagnosis in adulthood.

Tourette Syndrome, a neurological condition classified as a Tourette Syndrome, is characterised by involuntary movements and sounds that individuals are unable to control.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Africa, Jideonwo revealed that he was diagnosed in his 20s. He explained that at the time, his doctor advised him to keep the condition private due to concerns about stigma and public perception.

According to him, awareness of the condition became more pronounced in his late 20s, as he began to better understand and recognise its effects on his body.

He described Tourette Syndrome as a neurological condition that can feel like the body “misfires,” leading to sudden and uncontrollable physical or vocal expressions.

Jideonwo’s disclosure adds to growing conversations around neurological and mental health conditions, particularly the challenges of living with them in environments where stigma remains a concern.
