After latching onto a precise pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, Awoniyi embarked on a powerful solo run before expertly slotting the ball past Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to secure the points.

This crucial victory at the Gtech Community Stadium provides a massive boost to Nottingham Forest’s survival hopes, moving them five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone. The 28-year-old’s return to scoring form comes as a significant relief for manager Sean Dyche, especially as the forward recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff. Carragher, speaking in his role as a Sky Sports pundit, highlighted the physical presence and clinical nature of the forward’s late strike as a turning point for the club’s season.

The win leaves Forest level on points with Leeds United as they continue their climb away from the bottom three. With Awoniyi now back on the scoresheet, the club possesses a revitalized offensive threat heading into a demanding run of February fixtures. Fans and analysts alike view this performance as a potential catalyst for the striker to regain the prolific form that made him a fan favorite at the City Ground.

Jamie Carragher shared his enthusiastic reaction during the post-match analysis: “What a goal, absolutely fantastic, it’s exactly what you want your striker to do. He’s just come on, he’s full of running, he’s fresh, and he’s powerful.”
