Supreme court rules against PDP request on hearing of interlocutory appeals

The Supreme Court has delivered its first ruling against the People’s Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The seven-man panel of the Court led by Justice Tanko Mohammed overruled Atiku and his party’s request that their seven interlocutory appeals should be heard after the main one must have been argued.

Delivering the ruling, Justice Mohammed held that it would be unnecessary to hear the interlocutory appeals when a judgment on the main appeal marked SC.1211/2019 would cover the field.

Atiku and his party are challenging the ruling of the Presidential election petitions tribunal, which upheld President Muhammadu Buhari victory at the February 23, 2019 poll.
