Supreme Court annuls Orji Kalu’s conviction

The 12-year prison sentence given to former Abia state governor and Nigeria lawmaker, Orji Uzor Kalu has been nullified by the Supreme court.

A seven-man panel of the apex court gave the directive on Friday when it ruled on an application filed by Kanu challenging the verdict of the High Court.

The court also set aside the judgment which convicted Ude Udeogu, a former Director of Finance and Account at the Abia State Government House and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

The judgement is coming almost one year after both men were convicted of corruption allegations levelled against them by the Federal Government.
