Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Thursday moved up in the FIFA World Rankings from 31st to 29th.
In a statement released on its website, FIFA also ranked the Super Eagles third in Africa behind the Teranga Lions of Senegal, who are in 20th position and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, who occupy the 26th position.
This is the first FIFA ranking in six months, due to the disruption of the international match calendar in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Eagles last game was in November 2019 and was to return in March with a 2022 AFCON qualifying double-header against Sierra Leone, till the COVID-19 pandemic came.
The Nigerian side is however scheduled to play Ivory Coast and Tunisia next month in friendly games in Austria.
